We’ve been to many resorts in the Maldives, and they all have excellent service. But Vakkaru takes it to the next level – absolutely beyond belief. At most resorts, you might have a personal butler who attends to you, as well as one or two people who might typically serve you at the restaurants and come to know your name. Here, astonishingly, there are dozens and dozens of staff members who come to feel like your beloved friends and family. This doesn’t even begin to talk about all the other wonders of this spectacular place: the restaurants are absolutely gourmet! The beaches are perhaps the most beautiful we’ve seen in this nation of so many gorgeous islands. The place is wonderfully wild and remote with lush jungle forests adding to the feeling of getting away from it all. (Other island resorts that are close to the capital city of Male feel more urban.) But it’s the people that really make this place unbelievably fantastic! We stayed there for 30 nights (using this as a place to work remotely during the pandemic). And we wish we could have stayed forever.
